Uttar Pradesh Agri Markets See Revenue Surge, Crossing ₹2,300 Crore in FY26

Government-notified agricultural markets in Uttar Pradesh recorded revenue of more than ₹2,305 crore in FY2025-26, up from ₹1,991 crore in FY2024-25, as per The Business Standard news report.
The increase of nearly 15% was reported by the Uttar Pradesh State Agricultural Produce Market Council (UP Mandi Parishad). The Council oversees around 250 regulated mandis through local market committees across all 75 districts. Most organised wholesale trade in agricultural produce passes through these notified markets.
Budget Approved for FY27
The Council approved a Budget of about ₹3,025 crore for FY2026-27. Receipts for the financial year are estimated at over ₹2,228 crore. The decisions were taken during the Council's 172nd Board meeting.
Alongside the Budget, the Board cleared proposals related to procurement, market infrastructure, and existing farmer assistance schemes.
Procurement and Market Operations
The state government approved interest-free working capital for cooperative institutions procuring pulses and oilseeds under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). It also gave approval for agricultural processing units to be set up in mandi premises under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The government will continue connecting regulated mandis with the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM). Farmers are also to be linked with the National Natural Farming Mission, while certification of organic produce is planned across districts.
Production Target and Welfare Schemes
Uttar Pradesh produces more than 70 million tonnes of foodgrains every year. For the 2026-27 kharif season, the state has set a foodgrain and oilseed production target of 30.25 million tonnes, compared with 25.62 million tonnes in the previous year.
The Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Sahayata Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Khet-Khalihan Agnikand Durghatna Sahayata Yojana have been extended until June 2030. A provision of ₹30 crore has been made for implementing the two schemes.
