The upcoming session of Lok Adalat has been officially scheduled for 9th May 2026, offering citizens another opportunity to resolve disputes quickly, amicably, and without lengthy court procedures. Organised under the supervision of the National Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalats continue to play a vital role in reducing judicial backlog and promoting accessible justice across India.

Lok Adalat Schedule 2026

The full calendar for National Lok Adalats in 2026 has been released as follows:

  • 1st National Lok Adalat – 14 March 2026
  • 2nd National Lok Adalat – 09 May 2026
  • 3rd National Lok Adalat – 12 September 2026
  • 4th National Lok Adalat – 12 December 2026

These sessions are conducted nationwide across courts, legal service authorities, and designated centers, ensuring widespread access for litigants.

Scope of Lok Adalat

Lok Adalats are designed to handle a wide range of cases, focusing primarily on settlement through mutual agreement. Their scope includes:

  • Pending court cases: Civil disputes, matrimonial matters, and compoundable criminal cases
  • Pre-litigation disputes: Issues that have not yet reached the courts
  • Motor accident claims
  • Bank recovery and financial disputes
  • Public utility service matters, such as electricity and water bills

One of the key advantages is that decisions made in Lok Adalat are final and binding, with no provision for appeal, and court fees (if any) are refunded upon settlement.

Conclusion

With the next Lok Adalat scheduled for May 9, 2026, individuals and businesses alike have a valuable opportunity to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively. As India continues to emphasise alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, Lok Adalats remain a cornerstone of accessible and speedy justice. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of this platform to avoid prolonged litigation and achieve mutually agreeable outcomes.
