US Treasury Yields Ease as FIIs Buy

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought a net ₹14,974.68 crore worth of Indian equities on Thursday, according to NDTV Profit news report citing provisional data from NSE, BSE and MSEI.

Their purchases extended to a fifth consecutive session, taking total net buying this week to around ₹32,210 crore.

FII Purchases Rise Over Five Sessions

On Thursday, FIIs bought shares worth ₹31,797.86 crore and sold ₹16,823.18 crore. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of ₹10,444.54 crore during the session.

FII purchases stood at ₹3,114.68 crore on Monday, ₹6,836.81 crore on Tuesday and ₹7,284.03 crore on Wednesday. The buying continued on Thursday, when the Sensex gained 2,008.61 points, or 2.60%, to close at 79,310.01.

The Nifty 50 rose 576 points, or 2.40%, to 24,536.60. Both indices recorded gains for the sixth consecutive session.

Crude Oil Prices Fall 8.7%

Brent crude futures fell 8.7% on Wednesday and settled at $94.62 per barrel. Prices remained around $94-$96 on Thursday.

The fall followed the Democrats' victories in both houses of the US Congress in the midterm elections, raising expectations of an earlier end to the US-Iran conflict.

India imports most of its crude oil requirements. A fall in prices reduces the country's import bill and can ease inflationary pressure and the current account deficit.

US Treasury Yields Move Lower

The US 10-year Treasury yield declined to 4.90% on Wednesday from 4.95% on Tuesday. This was below the 5.31% high recorded on October 5, 2026.

Lower US yields can make investments in emerging markets more attractive relative to US debt.

Earnings Outlook and AI Exposure

Improving corporate earnings and expectations of a possible abolition of long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax in the coming Budget are among the domestic factors supporting buying.

India's lower exposure to AI stocks has also drawn attention as investors reduce positions in markets such as Taiwan and South Korea.

Foreign Selling In 2026

Despite the latest purchases, FPIs had net sold ₹2,72,452 crore ($29.02 billion) in Indian equities up to November 5, 2026.

March recorded outflows of ₹1,17,775 crore, while September and October saw net sales of ₹35,861 crore and ₹34,843 crore, respectively. November has recorded net inflows of ₹22,693 crore so far.

Conclusion

FIIs have bought nearly ₹32,210 crore of Indian equities this week, following months of heavy selling. Lower crude prices, falling US yields and domestic earnings expectations have coincided with the reversal.
