The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has directed all online aggregators yet to join the e-Shram portal to complete onboarding and API integration by June 21, 2026, as per news reports.

The ministry said the process is necessary to comply with the Code on Social Security, 2020, and the Social Security Rules, 2026, which require digital sharing of worker data with the government.

15 Companies Already Integrated

According to the ministry, 15 aggregators have already completed onboarding on the portal.

These include Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy, Uber, Ola, Rapido, Amazon, Zepto, Urban Company and Porter, among others.

A dedicated aggregator module was launched on the e-Shram portal in December 2024 to facilitate registration and API integration.

Rules Mandate Worker Data Submission

The Social Security Rules, 2026, notified on May 8, require aggregators to submit details of gig and platform workers through APIs or other electronic systems within 45 days of the rules taking effect.

The ministry noted that 18 days of the compliance period have already elapsed and asked platforms to complete the remaining formalities within the prescribed timeline to ensure uninterrupted data flow.

Social Security Framework for Gig Workers

The Code on Social Security, 2020, came into force on November 21, 2025, bringing gig and platform workers within India's social security framework for the first time. Section 114(1) of the Code empowers the Central Government to frame welfare schemes for workers engaged through digital platforms.

The e-Shram portal, launched on August 26, 2021, serves as a national database for unorganised workers.

Registered workers receive a Universal Account Number (UAN), which can be used to access government welfare schemes, employment opportunities and skill development programmes.
