The Bihar government has transferred pension payments to more than 94 lakh beneficiaries under 6 social security schemes, as per news reports.
The amount was credited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism and covered senior citizens, widows and persons with disabilities across the state.
Under the latest disbursal, each beneficiary received ₹1,100. According to the Chief Minister's Office, the payment was credited directly to bank accounts through DBT.
The transfer was carried out by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and covered beneficiaries enrolled under various pension schemes administered by the Social Welfare Department.
The current payment reflects the revised pension amount introduced by the state government last year. Under the revision, the monthly pension was increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100.
The revised amount applies to beneficiaries covered under the state's social security pension programmes and continues to be disbursed through direct bank transfers.
The state government announced that pension payments under these schemes will be credited on the 10th day of every month.
The Chief Minister also urged residents aged 60 years and above who are eligible for pension benefits but are not currently enrolled under any scheme to submit applications.
The transfer covered the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Mukhyamantri Vridhjan Pension Yojana, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme and the Bihar State Disability Pension Scheme.
These schemes provide monthly financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries across Bihar through the Social Welfare Department.
