This includes industrial establishments under the government. The declaration ensures uniform observance across departments and institutions.
The Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar lists Ambedkar Jayanti as a bank holiday in most states. Banks will remain closed in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, among others.
While physical branches will be shut, digital banking services such as internet, SMS and WhatsApp banking will remain operational. This allows customers continued access to routine financial services despite branch closures.
All stock market segments will remain closed on April 14, 2026. This includes Equity, Equity Derivatives, Currency Derivatives and Commodity Derivatives across exchanges.
Government schools, colleges, courts, post offices and Public Sector Undertakings will also remain closed. These closures reflect the nationwide observance of the public holiday.
