AM Group has announced plans to establish a large-scale artificial intelligence compute facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The project, unveiled during the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, involves a proposed investment of around $25 billion.
The initiative is intended to strengthen India’s digital infrastructure and support rising demand for high-capacity computing for AI applications.
AM Group, an energy transition platform backed by the founders of Greenko Group, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government to set up the AI compute hub. The facility is expected to be developed in phases, with initial operations targeted to begin by 2028.
Once fully completed by 2030, the centre is planned to reach a computing capacity of 1 gigawatt, enabling it to handle large-scale AI processing requirements for domestic and international users.
The planned hub will house approximately 500,000 high-performance chipsets designed to support intensive computing workloads. The facility aims to serve technology firms, research institutions and national AI programmes by offering access to substantial computing resources.
This project is positioned as part of broader efforts to expand India’s digital and data infrastructure capabilities.
A key element of the project is its commitment to round-the-clock carbon-free power. The compute facility is expected to operate using a mix of solar, wind and pumped storage energy sources.
This approach aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s objective of encouraging technology-driven development while integrating renewable energy into industrial growth plans.
The development of the compute hub is expected to generate significant demand for skilled professionals and may attract further investments into the region’s technology ecosystem.
State authorities anticipate that the project could support the expansion of AI-related research, innovation and enterprise activity in northern India.
AM Group leadership has indicated that the initiative reflects the company’s focus on technology-led growth and its ambition to contribute to the evolution of global AI infrastructure. The management has also highlighted the integration of computing capacity with green energy supply as a core aspect of the project’s design.
