Bharat Forge Ltd. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French aerospace company Turgis Gaillard to offer AAROK, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), for India’s Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV requirements. The announcement was made during the Paris Airshow.
AAROK is classified as a MALE UAV and is designed for long-range surveillance and extended missions. It is capable of flying for more than 24 hours at high altitudes. The UAV is equipped with electromagnetic sensors and radar systems to observe enemy activity while staying outside of direct threat zones.
It is also to carry a weapons payload of over 1.5 tonnes. The system allows remote engagement of targets from a safe distance and can support operations beyond frontlines, including the disruption of enemy defence systems such as surface-to-air missiles.
The UAV is linked to military command and control systems. It continuously transmits operational data, contributing to situational awareness during missions. The integration with other military systems allows the UAV to support coordinated tasks in varied operational contexts.

Bharat Forge plans to set up a production line for AAROK within India. The company stated that the intent is to meet the growing demand from the Indian armed forces through domestic production. The agreement also includes provisions for complete control over maintenance and overhaul operations in India.
This agreement follows Bharat Forge’s recent collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the technology transfer of the Mounted Gun System. The company has an existing role in India’s defence and aerospace supply chain.
As of 9:35 AM on June 18, 2025, Bharat Forge share price was trading at ₹1,306.50, a 0.46% increase; the stock has declined 1.20% over the past 6 months and 23.46% over the past year.
The AAROK proposal adds to Bharat Forge’s efforts in expanding its defence manufacturing. The proposed AAROK UAV is still under consideration and has not yet been officially selected by the Indian Ministry of Defence.
