Several Small-cap Companies Are Issuing Bonus Stocks in October 2022

Bonus shares: an introduction 

Before we discuss the list of companies issuing bonus shares in October 2022, let’s understand what a bonus share is.

Eligibility for bonus shares

The eligibility depends on the record date and ex-date of the shareholder. 

The company decides a record date or cut-off date to select eligible shareholders. To receive bonus shares, the individual must be a shareholder before the record date. 

An ex-date is a date preceding the record date fixed by the company.

The current equity delivery cycle to Demat accounts in India is t+2 days. All shareholders before record and ex-date are eligible to receive bonus shares. However, investors must buy shares before the ex-date to become eligible. Stocks purchased on the ex-date aren’t suitable for bonus shares as they will take two days to get credited to the Demat.

The directors of Shivalik Bimetal Controls Ltd. has approved the issuing bonus shares in the ratio of 1:2, meaning one bonus share for every two shares. 

The shares will trade on an ex-bonus basis on October 13, 2022.

The board has approved issuing bonus shares in a 3:2 ratio, meaning investors for every three shares will receive two bonus shares. 

The company has fixed October 12, 2022, as the record date.

The company has informed the exchange that its board has approved October 10, 2022, as a fixed record date.
