Vedanta Ltd. has paid ₹4,48,830 crore to the government exchequer over the last 10 financial years. The figures, disclosed in the company's annual Tax Transparency Report, cover contributions from both domestic and international operations, including direct taxes, indirect taxes, royalties, dividends, and other mandatory payments.
For the financial year 2024-25 alone, Vedanta contributed ₹55,349 crore. This amount accounted for 37% of the company’s total consolidated revenue for the year in the form of direct and indirect taxes, royalties, dividends, and other statutory payments. Out of this, ₹54,595 crore went directly to the government exchequer.
Vedanta has operations across 15 Indian states. In FY25, Rajasthan recorded the highest contribution at ₹25,436 crore. Odisha followed with ₹9,176 crore. These contributions reflect the company’s production and operational activities in mineral-rich regions.
The Tax Transparency Report released by Vedanta outlines its yearly contributions and includes a region-wise split. The report includes payments made not just in India but also in other regions where the company operates. This includes South Africa, Namibia, Liberia, and the UAE.
Vedanta Ltd. is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources and operates in sectors such as natural resources, energy, critical minerals, and related technologies. It carries out large-scale mining and industrial activities across various countries, contributing through statutory and regulatory channels in those geographies.
The ₹4.5 trillion contribution covers financial years from 2015-16 to 2024-25. All figures include payments made as per local laws across jurisdictions where the company has a presence.

As of 09:58 AM on June 20, 2025, Vedanta Ltd share price was trading at ₹440.80, a 0.30% increase. The stock has declined 8.13% over the past 6 months and 6.70% over the past year.
Between FY16 and FY25, Vedanta’s cumulative payments to governments totaled nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore. In FY25 alone, the company paid over ₹55,000 crore, with a significant portion coming from its Indian operations in Rajasthan and Odisha.
