Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), in partnership with MIT Sloan Management Review (MIT SMR), has launched a groundbreaking research series on the evolving relationship between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) in enterprise environments. Announced on 15 July 2025, the initiative explores how generative and predictive AI are shaping decision-making across various industries.
The joint study covers sectors including manufacturing, retail, BFSI, healthcare, and more. It highlights a key shift: "AI is moving from adviser to architect." Rather than just optimising tasks, AI now transforms how decisions are made, offering strategic options and guiding outcomes. Michael Schrage of MIT said, "ICAs flip the script. They do not just learn from decisions, they learn how to improve the environment in which decisions are made."
The study show cases the practical use of Intelligent Choice Architectures (ICAs). Walmart identifies talent using ICAs, and Pernod Ricard refines marketing campaigns with them. Cummins explores extreme powertrain designs, while Mastercard boosts efficiency by integrating ICAs.
Liberty Mutual’s LibertyGPT saved over 200,000 hours in 2024. Meta and BT apply ICAs in product decisions and customer interactions. David Kiron of MIT observed, "This isn’t AI as co-pilot. This is AI and humans working together as architects to redesign how people perceive, weigh, and act on choices."
TCS has helped enterprises embrace this AI transition. Ashok Krish, Head of AI Practice, explained, "ICAs shift AI from task automation to building superior decision environments for complex multi-factorial situations."
Sankaranarayanan Viswanathan added, "The real challenge for enterprises isn’t just making better decisions, it is recognising that decisions are merely the outcome of the choices they privilege or overlook." TCS has also upgraded its GenAI platform, AI WisdomNext 2.0, and received NVIDIA’s Rising Star Consulting Partner of the Year Award.

As of July 16, 2025, at 12:10 PM, TCS share price is trading at ₹3,235.20 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.53%. Over the past month, the stock has declined by approximately 7.52%.
Through its research collaboration with MIT SMR, TCS offers a clear roadmap for AI-human synergy. By introducing Intelligent Choice Architectures, the initiative provides real solutions for more informed, accountable, and strategic decision-making across sectors. This effort redefines how enterprises structure decisions, where AI and humans act as true partners.
