Wonderla Holidays Limited has received a show cause notice from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Central Tax, CGST West Commissionerate, Bengaluru. The company received the notice on August 21 2026 and informed the exchanges on August 22, 2026. 

The notice has been issued under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act and Karnataka Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The GST Authority has raised a tax demand of ₹15.73 crore. 

₹14.19 Crore Claim Linked to Bengaluru Park 

The largest part of the demand relates to GST on restaurant services at Wonderla's Bengaluru Park. The notice alleges a short payment of ₹14.19 crore for the period from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2026. 

Another ₹1.25 crore relates to restaurant services supplied through the Woods restaurant at the company's resort. This covers the period between 1 April 2020 and 21 June 2023. 

Accommodation Services Also Included 

The show cause notice also covers GST on accommodation services at the resort. The alleged short payment for this segment stands at ₹27.97 lakh. 

This claim relates to the period from 1 April 2020 to 21 June 2023. Together, the restaurant and accommodation-related claims make up the ₹15.73 crore tax demand. 

Interest and Penalty Listed in Notice 

The disclosure also lists interest of ₹2.83 crore and a penalty of ₹15.73 crore. Wonderla has been asked to explain why the tax demand, interest and penalty should not be confirmed. 

The company said there was no immediate financial impact at this stage. No order has been passed, and no penalty, restriction or sanction has been imposed on the company as of the disclosure date. 

Wonderla Plans to File Reply 

Wonderla said it is reviewing the show cause notice with its tax advisers. It will submit a detailed reply to the adjudicating authority within the prescribed timeline and pursue legal remedies available to it.

Wonderla Holidays Share Price Performance  

As of August 21, 2026, 3:30 pm, Wonderla Holidays share price closed at ₹521.50, a 6.41% increase from the previous closing price. 

Conclusion 

The notice relates to alleged GST short payments on restaurant and accommodation services over different periods. The matter is currently at the show cause notice stage, and Wonderla is preparing its response.
