In a strategic move to secure ₹35,000 crore in funding over the next decade, Vodafone Idea is joining forces with a consortium of banks led by State Bank of India, as per The Economic Times news report.  

This initiative aims to support the company's substantial capital expenditure plans for future service enhancements and infrastructure upgrades. 

Loan Agreement Details and Bank Participation 

As per news report, Vodafone Idea has planned an arrangement with 8 to 10 banks to fund its capital expenditures through a ₹35,000 crore loan.  

State Bank of India has committed to taking around 20% of this loan. Other lenders, both from the public and private sectors, are likely to contribute to the loan. 

Funding Strategy for Service Upgrades 

The total capital needed for Vodafone Idea to upgrade its services is estimated at ₹60,000 crore. The planned loan covers around 58% of this requirement, with the remainder expected to be sourced from the company's internal accruals or equity infusions.  

The lending consortium includes significant players like the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development, likely the contributors.  

The Aditya Birla Group holds a 6.64% stake in Vodafone Idea and is the third-largest shareholder after the Government of India and Vodafone UK.

Vodafone Idea Share Price Performance 

As of September 15, 2026, at 10:55 AM, Vodafone Idea share price on NSE was trading at ₹14.72, down by 1.67% from the previous closing price.
