Vodafone Idea Focuses on Network Expansion and Competitiveness in FY27

Vodafone Idea, India's third-largest telecom carrier, plans to prioritise network expansion and market competitiveness in FY27.
This strategic focus follows a year of resolution in FY26, where the company achieved financial clarity and improved operating performance, as highlighted by Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla in the annual report.
Network Investments and Market Competitiveness
In FY27, Vodafone Idea will concentrate on executing its network investment programme and enhancing market competitiveness. The company aims to leverage its stronger balance sheet to achieve sustained growth in customer base and earnings.
Birla emphasised that FY26 marked a turning point for the company, resolving longstanding challenges, including the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) issue.
The Department of Telecommunications finalised Vodafone Idea's dues at ₹64,046 crore, significantly lower than the previous provisional figure of ₹87,695 crore, establishing a clear long-term repayment schedule.
Financial Performance and Investor Confidence
Vodafone Idea reported a 3% increase in revenue to ₹44,873 crore in FY26, compared to ₹43,571 crore in the previous year.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 4.8% to ₹19,003 crore, with the EBITDA margin improving to 43.1% from 41.6%. This reflects disciplined cost management alongside steady revenue growth.
Investor confidence was bolstered by the company's improved operating performance, with Vodafone Idea raising ₹3,300 crore through non-convertible debentures before the AGR resolution.
Additional support came from promoter groups, including a ₹6,394 crore settlement from Vodafone Group and a $500 million (approximately ₹4,730 crore) equity infusion from the Aditya Birla Group.
Maintaining a financially viable telecom industry is crucial for India's digital transformation, according to Birla. He highlighted the need for periodic tariff adjustments to sustain investment and finance next-generation networks.
With mobile connections surpassing 1 billion, telecom has become essential national infrastructure.
Vodafone Idea Share Price Performance
As of August 05, 2026, at 3:30 PM, Vodafone Idea share price on NSE was closed at ₹12.80, down by 0.78% from the previous closing price.
Conclusion
Vodafone Idea's focus on network expansion and market competitiveness in FY27 follows a year of financial resolution. The company reported a 3% revenue increase to ₹44,873 crore and a 4.8% rise in EBITDA to ₹19,003 crore, supported by promoter investments and a clear repayment schedule for its ₹64,046 crore dues.
