Asahi Group Holdings has announced a partnership with Varun Beverages Limited to introduce the CALPIS brand in India.

This collaboration marks Asahi Group's first venture into India's non-alcoholic, non-carbonated beverage market.

CALPIS Launch Details

The partnership will see the launch of CALPIS, a ready-to-drink, non-alcoholic, non-carbonated dairy-based beverage, in India starting in the second half of 2026.

The product will be available in two flavours: Original and Mango. Asahi Group will oversee product development and provide technical support, while Varun Beverages will manage manufacturing, distribution, and sales.

Market Potential in India

India, with a population exceeding 1.4 billion, presents a promising market for non-alcoholic beverages. The market has expanded by approximately 2.3 times in volume over the past decade through 2025.

Factors such as population growth, the expansion of the middle class, and rising health consciousness among consumers are driving this growth.

Varun Beverages, established in the 1990s, is the second-largest franchisee of PepsiCo outside the United States. It operates 53 production facilities in India and abroad.

Asahi Group plans to leverage Varun Beverages' production capabilities and sales network to drive its business in India.
