VA Tech WABAG, a multinational water technology company, has secured a major consortium order from United Water Supply Company of Georgia LLC for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Georgia.
The project will be developed in Kutaisi, the country’s third-largest city, and is funded by the European Investment Bank. The project marks an important milestone for WABAG as it enters the Georgian market and expands its presence in the CIS region.
The project involves the construction of a 19 Million Litres Per Day wastewater treatment plant. The facility has also been designed with the flexibility for future expansion, allowing the capacity to be increased up to 56 MLD. The engineering, procurement and construction scope includes demolition of the existing plant, development of a new treatment facility and installation of an effluent pipeline that will discharge treated water into the river.
As the consortium leader, WABAG will be responsible for design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the treatment systems.
The upcoming wastewater treatment plant will use advanced mechanical and biological treatment technologies. The facility will include nutrient removal based on the activated sludge process, along with final sedimentation and ultraviolet disinfection systems to ensure high standards of treated water quality.
The project will also feature sludge treatment units, solar sludge drying systems, odour control mechanisms and associated pumping infrastructure. These technologies are expected to enhance operational efficiency and ensure environmentally sustainable wastewater management.
In addition to building the facility, WABAG will also provide training for the client’s personnel and supervise the operation and maintenance of the plant for a period of 12 months. This support is aimed at ensuring smooth operations and efficient management of the treatment facility after commissioning.
On March 20, 2026, VA Tech WABAG share price opened at ₹1,225.00, touching the day’s high at ₹1,247.40, as of 10:30 AM on the NSE.
