VA Tech Wabag has secured a new order from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for the development of wastewater treatment facilities in Bengaluru, as per an exchange filing dated July 20, 2026.
The work includes a 100 MLD and 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (‘STP’) at Byramangala and Bellandur, respectively, along with a 25 MLD Tertiary Treatment Plant (‘TTP’) at Byramangala.
The company has classified the contract as a 'Large' order, which, under its disclosure framework, refers to projects valued between ₹250 crore and ₹600 crore.
The projects have been awarded under the Design, Build, and Operate (DBO) model. The scope covers engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, electrical systems, instrumentation, process engineering, and building services.
The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase is scheduled to be completed within 36 months. Once commissioned, WABAG will operate and maintain the facilities for a further seven years under the contract.
The 2 sewage treatment plants will use the Activated Sludge Process integrated with a Biological Nutrient Removal system. The tertiary treatment plant at Byramangala will use ultrafiltration technology to produce treated water for discharge into nearby water bodies.
According to the filing, the biogas generated during treatment will be used to meet part of the plants' energy requirement.
The Bellandur project forms part of an existing wastewater treatment facility where VA Tech Wabag had completed the first phase earlier. The latest order covers the second phase of the plant.
The exchange filing states that the projects are intended to expand wastewater treatment capacity in Bengaluru. It also confirmed that the contract is a domestic order and that there is no promoter interest or related-party transaction associated with the award.
