TVS Motor Share Price in Focus; Enters African EV Market With iQube Launch in Kenya

TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS iQube electric scooter in Kenya, the company's first entry into the African electric two-wheeler market, as per an exchnage filing dated August 6, 2026.
The company said it is the first Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to introduce a premium electric scooter in Africa. Distribution, sales and service operations in Kenya will be managed by Car & General through its existing dealership and after-sales network.
Two Battery Variants Introduced
The scooter has been introduced in two variants. The TVS iQube 3.5 is equipped with a 3.5 kWh battery offering a claimed riding range of 115 km, while the TVS iQube 2.2 comes with a 2.2 kWh battery and a claimed range of 75 km.
Both models are powered by a 4.6 kW hub-mounted electric motor with 140 Nm of peak torque. They can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 4.2 seconds, while the higher variant has a top speed of 82 km/h.
Connected and Safety Features
The two scooters feature a 5-inch digital instrument cluster, reverse and forward parking assist, and an IP67-rated battery protection system.
Connected functions available through the TVS SMARTXONNECT platform include turn-by-turn navigation, geofencing, ride statistics, charging information, anti-theft alerts and crash or fall notifications.
The battery can be charged from 0% to 80% in about 2 hours for the 2.2 kWh model and 2 hours 55 minutes for the 3.5 kWh version using a 950W portable charger.

Market Outlook and Existing Customer Base
Car & General estimates that Africa's overall two-wheeler market will expand at a compound annual growth rate of 7% to 10% through 2030. The electric two-wheeler segment is projected to grow at 15% to 25% annually during the same period, although adoption levels remain relatively low.
Separately, TVS Motor said the iQube has crossed one million customers worldwide. According to the company, users have covered more than 17.8 billion kilometres since the model was introduced.
