TCS share price is likely to remain in focus after reports suggested that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has acquired land parcels in Visakhapatnam (Vizag) and Pune, which could potentially support OpenAI's first data centre facilities in India. While neither TCS nor OpenAI has officially confirmed the purpose of the acquisitions, the developments come amid growing investments in AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centres across the country.
The reported land acquisitions also align with India's increasing focus on becoming a hub for cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to media reports, the Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 200 acres to TCS in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam. The site is located close to where Google has already begun constructing a 1 GW hyperscale data centre, highlighting the region's emergence as a key digital infrastructure hub.
Separately, TCS has acquired an 88-acre land parcel in Bopkhel, Pune, for ₹640.50 crore from Hemisphere Properties India Ltd. The transaction was approved by shareholders on June 30 and disclosed through a stock exchange filing.
According to media reports, the newly acquired land parcels could potentially be used to host OpenAI's first data centre facilities in India. However, there has been no official announcement from TCS or OpenAI confirming such plans.
The reported developments come at a time when global technology companies are expanding AI computing capacity to meet rising demand for generative AI applications. India has also been witnessing increased investments in data centres, supported by growing cloud adoption, digital transformation, and government initiatives.
If the reported plans materialise, the facilities could strengthen India's AI ecosystem while supporting the country's ambitions to become a major destination for advanced computing infrastructure.

The reported land acquisitions in Vizag and Pune have brought TCS share price into focus as investors track the company's long-term infrastructure strategy.
