As per news report, On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Tamil Nadu has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), involving an investment of ₹18,600 crore.  

This agreement covers three major projects aimed at bolstering the state's industrial landscape. 

Data Centre Expansion in Kancheepuram 

The largest of the 3 projects is the Data Centre Expansion in Kancheepuram district, which will see an investment of ₹15,000 crore.  

This project is expected to generate employment for 500 individuals, contributing to the region's digital infrastructure and technological growth. 

Electronics Manufacturing in Coimbatore 

L&T will also establish an Electronics and Electronic Systems Manufacturing Project in Coimbatore, with an investment of ₹2,500 crore.  

This initiative is set to create approximately 2,000 jobs, enhancing the electronics manufacturing sector in Tamil Nadu. 

Shipbuilding Facility Expansion at Kattupalli 

The third project involves the expansion of L&T's shipbuilding facility at Kattupalli in Tiruvallur district.  

With an investment of ₹1,100 crore, this expansion is expected to create employment for around 5,700 people, supporting the offshore wind energy construction industry.

Government Support and Vision 

The MoU signing was witnessed by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister V Joseph Vijay, who expressed appreciation for L&T's continued investments in the state.  

The projects align with the Tamil Nadu government's vision of transforming the state into a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036, strengthening its industrial ecosystem. 

Larsen & Toubro Share Price Performance  

As of June 04, 2026, at 2:08 PM, Larsen & Toubro share price on NSE was trading at ₹3,947.00 down by 0.16% from the previous closing price.
