Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd. has issued a clarification regarding media reports on changes in the company's promoter shareholding. The insurer stated that the movement in shareholding arose from the transmission of shares held by late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala as part of the settlement of his estate and does not represent a market sale.
The company clarified that the movement in the promoter and promoter group shareholding during the quarter ended June 30, 2026 resulted from the transmission of equity shares held by late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.
It added that the change represents an inter-se devolution within the promoter and promoter group pursuant to the settlement of his estate.
Star Health said it had already informed the stock exchanges on April 6, 2026 that it had received approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for the transmission of 8,28,82,958 equity shares held by late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. The transmission was carried out in accordance with the probate granted in his name.
The company also referred to a disclosure made by Sitara Partners LLP, a promoter entity, stating that as of June 24, 2026, it held 7,82,13,958 equity shares, representing 13.2887% of the company's total issued and paid-up share capital. The disclosure was made under the SEBI (Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers) Regulations, 2011.
As of July 24, 2026, at 3:28 PM, Star Health and Allied Insurance Company share price was trading at ₹579.75 per share, reflecting a surge of 0.48% from the previous trading session.
Star Health clarified that the recent change in promoter shareholding was the result of the transmission of late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's shares under the settlement of his estate. The company said it has made all the required disclosures relating to the transmission and promoter shareholding.
