SJVN Limited has brought its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar into commercial operation, marking the project's achievement of its Commercial Operation Date (COD), as per the exchange filings. The facility was developed through a wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). 

The project has been developed across approximately 300 acres of outright-purchased land near Village Hadhadiya, Kakanchaur, in Jamui district, at an estimated cost of ₹342 crore. It originated from a tender floated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA), Government of Bihar. 

3,522 Million Units Over 25 Years 

The solar facility is estimated to produce around 90 million units of electricity in its first year. Across 25 years, cumulative generation is projected at approximately 3,522 million units. 

Electricity generated by the project will be supplied to Bihar, with the tariff fixed at ₹2.96 per unit. 

82,250.74 Tonnes of Emissions Reduction 

The project is estimated to reduce approximately 82,250.74 tonnes of carbon emissions while adding renewable electricity to the grid. 

Its commissioning also contributes to the Government of India's target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, alongside the country's decarbonisation objectives and climate commitments. 

Local Employment Generated 

The project has created approximately 15-20 direct employment opportunities and around 50-100 indirect jobs, contributing to local economic activity and green employment in the area. 

Management Highlights Project Impact 

Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, confirmed the COD achievement. Ajay Sharma, Director (Personnel), highlighted the project's generation potential, while Parthajit De, Director (Finance), pointed to its ₹2.96 per unit tariff. Rajesh Chandel, Director (Projects), highlighted the employment created by the project.

SJVN Share Price Performance  

As of 12 August 2026, at 12:24 PM, SJVN Limited share price was trading at ₹67.15 per share, reflecting a decline of 0.13% from the previous closing price.

The 75 MW Jamui project adds 3,522 million units of estimated 25-year generation capacity to SJVN's renewable portfolio, with a ₹342 crore project cost and projected carbon emission reduction of 82,250.74 tonnes.
