
Ramakrishnan Chander has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), effective December 1, 2025.
This appointment follows a notification from the Government of India, marking a significant leadership change within the corporation.
Shri Ramakrishnan Chander, previously serving as the Executive Director (Investment – Front Office) and Chief Investment Officer at LIC, has assumed the role of Managing Director.
His appointment is in the pay scale of ₹2,05,400 to ₹2,24,400. He will serve in this capacity until September 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
With this new role, Chander steps down from his previous position, bringing his extensive experience to the forefront of LIC's leadership.
Ramakrishnan Chander's career at LIC began in 1990 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. Over 35 years, he has gained substantial experience in both marketing and administration. His career trajectory includes roles such as Senior Divisional Manager, Regional Manager (Marketing), and Regional Manager (P&GS).
Chander also led LIC's Strategic Business Unit – International Operations as Executive Director, showcasing his versatility and leadership skills.

As of December 2, 2025, at 9:23 AM, Life Insurance of India share price on NSE was trading at ₹887.10 up by 0.57% from the previous closing price.
