In a strategic financial move, Quant Mutual Fund, along with Nomura and other investors, acquired a 5.3% stake in Premier Energies for ₹2,291 crore.  

This transaction underscores a significant shift in shareholding patterns within the company. 

Details of the Premier Energies Stake Acquisition 

On May 25, the promoters of Premier Energies offloaded 2.39 crore shares, equivalent to 5.3% of the company’s equity, raising ₹2,291 crore through block deals.  

The selling price was set at ₹955 per share, according to data from the National Stock Exchange. 

Quant Mutual Fund emerged as the dominant buyer, securing 40.83 lakh shares for ₹390 crore. 

This investment was followed by Nomura India Investment Fund, which purchased 25 lakh shares for ₹238.75 crore, and Smallcap World Fund, acquiring 24.44 lakh shares for ₹233.49 crore. 

Involvement of Other Global and Domestic Investors 

The share sale witnessed participation from global players such as AL Mehwar Commercial Investments and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. American Funds Insurance Series Global Small Capitalization Fund and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board also featured among the investors. 

On the domestic front, prominent names like Nippon India Equity Opportunities AIF and HDFC Mutual Fund partook in the transaction. Other participants include Bajaj Finserv Mutual FundBNP Paribas Funds India Equity, and Tata Mutual Fund among others, reflecting diverse investor interest.

Current Shareholding and Market Reaction 

As of March 2026, the promoters held 63.94% of Premier Energies’ equity. The recent stake sale has slightly altered this distribution, providing investors further access to the rapidly growing solar energy company. 

Following the transactions, Premier Energies’ share price saw a modest rise, closing 0.16% up at ₹985 on the National Stock Exchange.
