Power Grid Share Price in Focus; Declared as Successful Bidder under TBCB

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) announced it has been declared the successful bidder for an inter-state transmission project in Gujarat. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on 21 August 2026 and disclosed it to the stock exchanges on the same day.
The project was secured through competitive bidding under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism and will be implemented under the BOOT model.
Project Linked to Jam Khambhaliya and Jamnagar
The transmission system will connect renewable energy projects in the Jam Khambhaliya Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) and Jamnagar. Jam Khambhaliya REZ Phase II has a capacity of 5,500 MW.
Jamnagar Phase I has a capacity of 1,000 MW. The two projects together account for 6,500 MW of renewable energy capacity covered under the transmission scheme.
Annual Tariff of ₹822.91 Crore
The discovered tariff for the project is ₹822.91 crore per annum. POWERGRID will establish the inter-state transmission system for integrating power from the renewable energy projects covered under the scheme.
The company disclosed the development in an exchange filing dated 21 August 2026. The LoI confirming the award was received on the same day.
Substation Work and Transmission Lines
The project includes the construction of a new GIS substation at Kalyanpur in Gujarat. It will also involve ICT augmentation and bay extension work at substations that are currently under construction in the state.
The scope further includes the construction of 765 kV transmission lines across Gujarat. The lines and substation-related work form part of the transmission system planned for the project.
