
Nibe Limited announced the inauguration of its advanced Defence Manufacturing Complex in Shirdi, Maharashtra, marking a significant expansion of its indigenous defence production capabilities, as per the exchange filings.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with senior military officials, government representatives and industry stakeholders.
The integrated manufacturing complex has been designed as a comprehensive ecosystem for defence and aerospace technologies.
According to the company, the facility will focus on advanced artillery systems, missile technologies, ammunition production, rocket systems, energetic materials, autonomous defence platforms and space-related technologies.
Key components of the complex include a 155 mm ammunition shell manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of 5 lakh shells.
The company also inaugurated indigenous TNT plant technology, indigenous RDX plant technology and a Bio-CNG and hydrogen fuel plant at the facility.
One of the major highlights of the inauguration ceremony was the unveiling and flag-off of “Suryastra”, described by the company as India’s first indigenous 300 km Universal Rocket Launching System.
NIBE stated that the system represents an important advancement in long-range precision strike capabilities and next-generation battlefield technologies.
The event also showcased successful trials of the 100 km loitering munition platform “Skystriker”, highlighting the company’s growing presence in advanced defence technologies and modern warfare systems.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the company’s contribution to domestic defence manufacturing and stated, “I am delighted to witness the scale at which NIBE Group has built its expertise in defence equipment development and manufacturing in support of the national objective of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’.”
He added that the company’s capabilities could help drive India’s next phase of defence manufacturing development.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the project strengthens Maharashtra’s ambition of becoming a major defence manufacturing hub and noted the strategic significance of the successful trials of the Suryastra rocket system and the 100 km loitering munition programme.
Ganesh Nibe stated, “NIBE Group remains deeply committed to supporting the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by building world-class indigenous capabilities, reducing import dependency in critical defence sectors, and positioning India as a global defence manufacturing hub.”
According to the company, the Shirdi Defence Manufacturing Complex is expected to create more than 3,000 direct employment opportunities.
The facility is also expected to support innovation, technology development and collaboration with MSMEs involved in the defence manufacturing ecosystem..
