Meesho Share Price in Focus; SoftBank Likely Sells 1.7% Stake in ₹1,650 Crore Block Deal

Meesho witnessed a sizeable block transaction on Thursday, with 8 crore shares changing hands for ₹1,650.4 crore. The shares represented around 1.7% of the company's equity, while SoftBank is likely to have been the seller.
The transaction also came in larger than the stake sale that had been reported a day earlier.
SoftBank Was Looking To Pare Its Holding
The initial plan was for around 7 crore shares to be sold through SoftBank's investment vehicle, SVF II Meerkat DE. That represented about 1.5% of Meesho and was valued at nearly ₹1,435 crore.
The estimated deal value was later increased to around ₹1,634 crore. The eventual transaction covered 8 crore shares and came to ₹1,650.4 crore.
SVF II Meerkat DE held 8.60% of Meesho at the end of the June 2026 quarter. Bank of America and JP Morgan were expected to be the bankers for the sale.
Meesho Had A Better June Quarter
The block deal follows Meesho's June quarter results, where the company's loss came down considerably from the year-ago period.
Its consolidated net loss stood at ₹132.8 crore in Q1 FY27, against ₹289.4 crore a year earlier. Revenue, meanwhile, rose 48% to ₹3,712.8 crore.
The company also reported an EBITDA loss of ₹224.7 crore, compared with ₹264.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
NMV Crosses ₹11,600 Crore
Meesho's Net Merchandise Value increased 34% year-on-year to ₹11,614 crore. The company linked the rise to continued user growth and stronger engagement on its platform.
With the block transaction now completed, the immediate development is the sizeable change in Meesho's shareholding, while its latest quarterly numbers show improvement in both revenue and losses.
