Maruti Suzuki India Share Price in Focus; Net Profit Falls 26.9% in Q2FY27

Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported a 26.9% decline in net profit for Q2FY27, even as quarterly sales crossed ₹50,000 crore.
Net profit stood at ₹2,414.9 crore for July-September, against ₹3,302.8 crore in the same period last year. Net sales rose 26.1% to ₹50,615.5 crore. The company sold 696,654 vehicles during the quarter, up from 550,874 a year earlier.
Domestic sales increased 33.6% to 588,535 units, while exports slipped 2.1% to 108,119 units. Small car sales grew 35.9%, and SUV sales rose 68.2%, according to the company’s results.
Commodity Costs Put Pressure on Margins
Higher sales did not prevent a decline in operating profit. Operating EBIT fell 17.1% to ₹2,803.7 crore from ₹3,382 crore in Q2FY26. Operating EBITDA dropped 6.3% to ₹4,763.3 crore.
Material costs accounted for 79.9% of net sales, compared with 75.7% in the year-ago quarter. Maruti Suzuki attributed the pressure on operating profit to higher commodity prices amid the West Asia conflict and adverse foreign exchange movements.
Cost-reduction efforts and improved realisations partly offset the impact.
Lower Non-Operating Income
Profit before tax declined 26.2% to ₹3,165.8 crore. Non-operating income also fell, with the company reporting mark-to-market losses on invested surplus. The operating EBITDA margin narrowed to 9.4% from 12.7% a year earlier.
First-Half Profit Also Declines
For April-September, net sales rose 31% to ₹1,00,574.6 crore, while total sales increased 27.9% to 1,379,378 units. Domestic sales accounted for 1,146,523 units, with exports contributing another 232,855 units.
Net profit for the six-month period fell 18.3% to ₹5,767 crore from ₹7,060.9 crore in H1FY26. The results reflect higher sales alongside lower profitability in both the September quarter and the first half of the financial year.
