MakeMyTrip share price could remain in focus after the online travel platform announced a new feature that allows travellers to pre-book early check-in and late check-out slots while booking hotels, villas, and homestays. The move aims to solve a long-standing pain point for travellers who often arrive early in the morning or depart late in the evening.
The feature is now available across more than 10,000 properties in India and over 1,000 international hotels across 20 destinations, including Dubai, Bangkok, Bali, and Kuala Lumpur. Users can select flexible room access windows of three, six, or nine hours at the time of booking.
MakeMyTrip’s internal booking data highlights the scale of the issue. Around 53% of domestic travellers arrive before 9 am, while 54% depart after 3 pm, creating a mismatch between travel schedules and standard hotel check-in and check-out times.
This often forces travellers to wait for hours before getting access to rooms or pay for an extra night to manage timing gaps. The new feature allows confirmed, prepaid access to rooms outside standard hours, reducing uncertainty and improving convenience for travellers.
According to the company, early check-in accounts for 77% of bookings under the new feature, indicating strong demand for morning arrival flexibility.
The rollout also creates a new revenue stream for both MakeMyTrip and hotel partners. The platform noted that unused early-morning and late-evening room inventory can now be monetised, improving asset utilisation for hotels.
The feature also uses flight, train, and bus booking data to suggest relevant check-in and check-out windows, making the booking experience more personalised. Company executives said flexibility and guaranteed room access are becoming increasingly important factors in travel decisions, alongside price and location.
MakeMyTrip plans to expand the feature to more properties and international markets in the coming months.
The launch of prepaid early check-in and late check-out services marks a significant upgrade in MakeMyTrip’s hotel booking ecosystem. By addressing a key traveller pain point and unlocking new monetisation opportunities for hotels, the feature strengthens the company’s competitive positioning in the online travel market. As adoption grows, MakeMyTrip share price is likely to remain in focus among investors tracking innovation-led growth in the travel sector.
