Larsen & Toubro Share Price Surges; Commences Initial Activities for New Tashkent International Airport Project

Larsen & Toubro has started work on the initial stages of the New Tashkent International Airport project in Uzbekistan. The company's Public Spaces, Airports & Health business vertical has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from the consortium developing the airport. 

As per the exchange filing, L&T had secured the EPC contract for the passenger terminal and related landside infrastructure earlier. The project falls under the company's ultra-mega order category, which covers orders worth more than ₹15,000 crore. 

Design and Planning Work Underway 

L&T has begun engineering, detailed design, project planning and procurement preparation.  

Work at the construction site will start once the consortium issues the full Notice to Proceed after the agreed contractual conditions are met. 

Terminal Planned for 17 Million Passengers 

The passenger terminal and associated facilities are designed to handle around 17 million passengers annually. 

L&T's work includes site grading, roads, structural construction, architectural finishes, mechanical and electrical services, utilities and the installation of airport systems. 

New Airport to Support Uzbekistan's Connectivity 

The airport is planned as a major gateway for passenger, cargo and logistics traffic. It is expected to play a role in Uzbekistan's plans to strengthen regional and international air connectivity. 

L&T's Senior Vice President and Head of Buildings Infrastructure, Sthaladipti Saha, said the project would support regional connectivity and Uzbekistan's ambition to become a major aviation hub.

As of 19 October 2026, at 10:54 AM, Larsen & Toubro Ltd share price is trading at ₹3,676 per share, reflecting a surge of 1.35% from the previous trading session. 

Conclusion 

L&T has begun preliminary activities, while full construction is yet to start. The airport's passenger terminal is planned to serve around 17 million passengers annually.
