Larsen & Toubro Limited has unveiled plans to collaborate with NVIDIA to establish large-scale artificial intelligence infrastructure in India under the IndiaAI Mission.
The proposed venture focuses on developing gigawatt-scale AI data centre capacity designed to support enterprise adoption, industrial applications, and global computing demand while strengthening India’s domestic AI ecosystem.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced its proposed collaboration with NVIDIA during the India AI Summit, outlining plans to create scalable AI infrastructure designed for production level deployment.
The initiative combines L&T’s engineering and infrastructure execution capabilities with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technologies and AI software platforms.
The venture is intended to support enterprises, policymakers, and global technology participants seeking large scale AI computing capacity anchored within India.
The proposed project aims to establish a gigawatt scale AI data centre ecosystem capable of handling high-density computing workloads. The infrastructure will integrate NVIDIA GPUs, CPUs, networking solutions, accelerated storage platforms, and enterprise AI software stacks to enable advanced computing environments.
The AI factory model is designed to facilitate large-scale training, deployment, and management of artificial intelligence applications across multiple industries.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the India AI Mission, which focuses on building sovereign digital infrastructure within the country. The project intends to allow data, AI models, and computing workloads to be developed and operated domestically while maintaining compatibility with global technology ecosystems.
Such sovereign infrastructure aims to support both domestic requirements and international clients looking to deploy AI workloads from India as a strategic technology hub.
As part of the rollout, L&T plans to scale NVIDIA GPU cluster deployment at its Chennai data centre to approximately 30 MW capacity within a larger 300 acre gigawatt-scalable campus. In addition, a new 40 MW data centre facility currently under development in Mumbai will also contribute to the overall computing capacity.
These facilities are expected to support next generation AI workloads requiring high-performance and energy-efficient computing environments.
The infrastructure is intended to provide AI-ready capabilities across sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, financial services, healthcare, and public services. The model is structured to enable enterprises to transition from experimental AI use cases towards production-scale deployment.
The platform may also support deployment of AI-driven operational frameworks within L&T’s group companies, including industrial automation and digital engineering solutions built on accelerated computing environments.
As of 19 February 2026 at 10:24 AM, shares of Larsen & Toubro Limited were trading at ₹4,309.00, down ₹16.90 or 0.39% compared with the previous close of ₹4,325.90. The stock opened at ₹4,326.10 during the session, touched an intraday high of ₹4,334.00, and recorded a low of ₹4,296.00.
The collaboration between Larsen & Toubro and NVIDIA reflects ongoing investment in large-scale AI infrastructure within India. The proposed development aims to support expanding computational demand while contributing to domestic technology capabilities and broader adoption of artificial intelligence across industries.
