Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, the digital infrastructure division of L&T, has commenced the construction of a 40MW data centre in Mahape, Navi Mumbai, as per news reports.  

This facility is part of a larger 100MW campus, marking a significant step in L&T Vyoma's plan to expand its digital infrastructure capabilities across India. 

Mahape Data Centre: A Key Component of Expansion 

The Mahape facility is integral to L&T Vyoma's strategy to develop over 200MW of data centre capacity nationwide. This expansion includes major digital hubs such as Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, reinforcing India's digital growth in innovation and sustainability. 

The Navi Mumbai data centre is specifically designed to accommodate build-to-suit, enterprise, and NeoCloud workloads. It aims to deliver high-density computing for AI and mission-critical applications, featuring direct-to-chip liquid cooling for efficient thermal management. 

Sustainability and Performance 

Emphasising sustainability, the data centre will operate with low-carbon emissions by integrating renewable energy sources. This approach aligns with L&T Vyoma's vision of creating a sovereign, sustainable digital ecosystem in India. 

R Shankar Raman, president and CFO of L&T, stated that the new facility embodies the company's vision of limitless, intelligent, and sustainable AI-ready digital growth.

Strategic Addition to L&T Vyoma's Portfolio 

The Mahape data centre enhances L&T Vyoma's colocation and build-to-suit offerings, providing secure and resilient digital infrastructure. It is designed to support hyperscale-ready campuses for global cloud providers and AI-centric infrastructure. 

Prashant Chiranjive Jain, head of L&T's corporate centre, highlighted that this project sets a new benchmark for AI-ready infrastructure, meeting the performance demands of generative AI while maintaining sustainable operations.
