
Kotak Mahindra Bank has started the process of appointing a new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer after Ashok Vaswani informed the board that he will not seek reappointment at the end of his current tenure, as per an exchange filing dated June 27, 2027.
The bank noted that Vaswani had cited personal reasons for his decision. His term is scheduled to conclude on 31 December 2026, and he will continue in office until then.
Following the board meeting, Kotak Mahindra Bank said it had initiated the process of selecting its next Managing Director and CEO. The bank added that the appointment would be completed within the timelines prescribed under the applicable regulatory framework.
The filing did not indicate whether the search would be limited to internal candidates or include external applicants.
The regulatory filing was limited to the leadership transition and did not mention any changes to the bank's business operations, management structure or strategic plans.
Vaswani will remain responsible for the bank's day-to-day operations until the completion of his tenure. The bank has also not provided a timeline for announcing the name of the incoming CEO.
The lender disclosed the development through a filing submitted to the NSE and BSE on 27 June 2026. The filing stated that the board considered the matter during its meeting held the same day and accepted Vaswani's decision.

As of June 29, 2026, 2:09 pm, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd share price was trading at ₹395.65, down 3.26% from the previous closing price.
Ashok Vaswani will remain Managing Director and CEO until the end of his current tenure on 31 December 2026. Kotak Mahindra Bank has initiated the process to appoint his successor in line with regulatory requirements.
