JSW Steel Limited has announced a significant collaboration with POSCO Group to establish a 50:50 joint venture.
This partnership aims to set up a greenfield 6 MTPA integrated steel plant in Odisha, leveraging the land owned by Saffron Resources Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Steel.
The joint venture agreement involves JSW Steel, Saffron Resources Private Limited, POSCO Co., Ltd, and POSCO-India Private Limited.
The collaboration will utilise 887 acres of land in Odisha, comprising 595 acres of freehold land and 292 acres of leasehold land, for the proposed steel plant.
POSCO Group will subscribe to shares of Saffron Resources for a consideration of approximately ₹508.8 crore, subject to closing adjustments.
