Quick commerce platform Instamart has partnered with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to launch India's first on-demand LPG cylinder delivery service through a quick-commerce platform.
The service has been introduced in Bengaluru, where customers can order HPCL's newly launched HP Navya 10-kg composite LPG cylinder directly through the Instamart app.
One of the key features of the new service is that customers do not need an existing domestic LPG connection to place an order. This makes it suitable for students, working professionals, small families and households that may not have a regular LPG connection.
For first-time customers, the order will be treated as the purchase of a new LPG cylinder. The delivery process will include identity verification and proof-of-delivery documentation.
For repeat customers, the service will work as a refill. The empty cylinder will be collected at the time the refilled cylinder is delivered.
Orders placed through the Instamart app will be fulfilled using HPCL's authorised distributor network.
The cylinders will be delivered by trained distributor personnel while following all applicable safety standards and regulatory guidelines. This ensures that the delivery process remains safe and compliant with LPG handling requirements.
At present, the on-demand LPG delivery service is available only in Bengaluru.
Customers in the city can order both:
The companies have not yet announced when the service will be expanded to other cities across India.
Amitesh Jha, Chief Executive Officer of Instamart, said the platform has expanded beyond grocery delivery and now aims to provide customers with access to essential household services. He added that the partnership with HPCL combines convenience with safety and reliability.
Amit Garg, Director (Marketing) at HPCL, said the company is focused on making LPG more accessible across India while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. He added that the partnership with Instamart will help HPCL reach customers through a digital platform and improve the overall consumer experience.
