As per news report, IndiGo has announced ₹10,000 compensation vouchers for passengers stranded during the extensive flight delays between December 3 and December 5, 2025.

This disruption was attributed mainly to crew shortages, which led to long airport queues and delayed departures across various Indian airports.

₹10,000 Vouchers Rolled Out for Severely Affected Passengers

To mitigate the inconvenience caused, IndiGo has offered ₹10,000 travel vouchers to affected passengers. The airline confirmed the issue arose due to a significant shortfall in available crew members, creating operational disarray that impacted numerous flights.

These vouchers can be redeemed for any IndiGo ticket over the next 12 months, providing passengers with flexibility in future travel plans.

This support comes on top of compensation already required under aviation rules, which mandate payouts of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 for flights cancelled within 24 hours of departure.

Extent of Disruption and Passenger Challenges

From December 3 to 5, passengers across India experienced major delays and cancellations, predominantly due to last-minute roster changes and understaffing. Many were left stranded at airports for extended periods, leading to considerable frustration.

Airports in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru witnessed long queues and widespread scheduling chaos.

Efforts from IndiGo to Address the Situation

Following public reaction and customer grievances, IndiGo took steps to analyse records and identify travellers who faced the most serious disruptions.

The ₹10,000 voucher initiative is a goodwill gesture aimed at rebuilding trust and offering compensation to those inconvenienced the most. The airline has stated that vouchers will be issued directly to eligible customers’ registered contact details.

As of December 11, 2025, at 2:47 PM, InterGlobe Aviation share price on NSE was trading at ₹4,794.00 down by 0.24% from the previous closing price.

Conclusion

IndiGo's decision to offer ₹10,000 travel vouchers follows a period of widespread flight delays caused by internal staffing challenges. The airline aims to restore passenger confidence by offering extended validity and universal usability across all its services.
