IndiGo Share Price Surges; Signs MoU with CFM for Record 1,000+ LEAP-1A Engines

InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CFM International for more than 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power 510 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, as per an exchange filing dated July 20, 2026.
According to the companies, this is the largest single order for LEAP engines placed with CFM International. The agreement was announced on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow on 20 July.
Maintenance Support Included
The agreement goes beyond engine supply. It includes support for IndiGo's planned engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility, along with a long-term materials services agreement. CFM will also supply spare parts for the fleet.
The arrangement is to support maintenance planning and aircraft availability as the airline adds more aircraft over the coming years.
Long-Running Partnership
IndiGo has worked with CFM for around a decade. The airline first operated Airbus A320ceo aircraft fitted with CFM56-5B engines before ordering LEAP-1A engines for its Airbus A320neo and A321neo fleet in 2019.
The airline said its CFM-powered A320 and A321 fleet now exceeds 375 aircraft.
CFM's Presence in India
India is CFM International's third-largest market. Five Indian airlines currently operate more than 400 LEAP-powered aircraft, while around 2,000 engines are on order. The company has delivered over 10,000 LEAP engines globally.
Safran, CFM's joint venture partner, also operates a 45,000-square-metre LEAP engine MRO facility in India, which is expected to handle up to 300 engine shop visits each year.
IndiGo's Fleet
IndiGo currently operates a fleet of more than 430 aircraft and flies around 2,200 services daily. The airline connects more than 95 domestic and 45 international destinations and carried over 123 million passengers during FY26.
