IndiGo has emerged as the leading recipient of Airbus aircraft globally in 2025, receiving 55 planes. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that the Indian carrier has topped the Airbus delivery charts, highlighting its strategic expansion in the aviation sector. 

IndiGo's Dominance in Airbus Deliveries 

In 2025, IndiGo received 55 aircraft from Airbus, representing 6.93% of the manufacturer's total 793 deliveries. This achievement underscores IndiGo's significant role in the global aviation market, despite operational challenges faced during the year. The airline's continued expansion strategy is evident in its substantial order book of 905 pending deliveries. 

Airbus Global Delivery Performance 

Airbus delivered 793 aircraft worldwide in 2025, slightly surpassing its revised target of 790. Initially, the manufacturer aimed for 820 deliveries but adjusted its target during the year. IndiGo's 55 deliveries placed it at the top, followed by Wizz Air with 40 aircraft, and China Southern Airlines and Delta Air Lines, each with 38 aircraft. 

Historical Delivery Trends 

IndiGo's leadership in Airbus deliveries is part of a consistent trend over recent years. In 2024, the airline received 58 planes, accounting for 7.6% of total deliveries. In 2023, IndiGo was in second place with 41 deliveries, behind Delta Air Lines. The airline also led in 2022 and 2021 with 49 and 42 aircraft deliveries, respectively.

Air India's Strategic Pause 

In contrast, Air India did not receive any new Airbus deliveries in 2025, focusing instead on its line-fit aircraft strategy. The airline's substantial order book includes 343 pending deliveries, ensuring its continued presence in future Airbus delivery schedules. 

InterGlobe Aviation Share Price Performance 

As of January 14, 2026, at 10:13 AM, InterGlobe Aviation share price on NSE was trading at ₹4,746 down by 0.28% from the previous closing price.
