IndiGo, operated by InterGlobe Aviation Limited, has announced the resignation of its CEO, Pieter Elbers, effective March 10, 2026. In the interim, Rahul Bhatia, the airline's Managing Director, will oversee the company's operations. 

CEO Pieter Elbers Resigns 

On March 10, 2026, IndiGo's Board of Directors acknowledged the resignation of CEO Pieter Elbers. His departure marks a significant change in the airline's leadership.  

Elbers, who joined IndiGo with a wealth of experience, will be stepping down at the close of business hours on the same day. 

Elbers' resignation was officially communicated to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited and BSE Limited, as per SEBI regulations. The company has also made this information available on its website. 

Rahul Bhatia Assumes Interim Leadership 

Following Elbers' resignation, Rahul Bhatia, the Managing Director of IndiGo, will temporarily manage the airline's operations.  

Bhatia, who has been instrumental in founding and nurturing IndiGo over 22 years, expressed his commitment to reinforcing the company's culture and operational excellence. 

Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta stated that Bhatia's return aims to strengthen the airline's dedication to service excellence and stakeholder trust.

IndiGo is recognised as one of India's leading and fastest-growing airlines. With a fleet of over 400 aircraft, the airline operates more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting 95 domestic and 40 international destinations.
