IIFL Capital Faces ₹3.20 Lakh MCX Penalty After Inspection Flags Compliance Lapses at Authorised Persons

IIFL Capital Services Ltd has informed the stock exchanges that the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹3.20 lakh following observations made during an inspection of the company's Authorised Persons (APs).
The disclosure was made through an exchange filing dated July 25, 2026. The company said it received the penalty letters from MCX on July 24, 2026.
Penalty Split Across Four Instances
According to the filing, three Authorised Persons have each been fined ₹1 lakh for issues related to the movement of funds and securities between clients and the APs.
A separate penalty of ₹20,000 has been imposed for shortcomings identified during the inspection of one Authorised Person. These included incomplete coverage of the prescribed inspection scope and non-compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Inspection Covered FY25 Period
The observations relate to an inspection conducted by MCX for the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. During the review, the exchange found that certain Authorised Persons did not provide satisfactory clarification regarding transactions in their bank accounts.
It also noted deficiencies in the inspection carried out by the company for one AP, particularly relating to the scope of inspection and regulatory compliance. Based on these findings, MCX imposed the monetary penalties.
Company Says Penalty to Be Recovered
IIFL Capital stated that the monetary penalties will be recovered from the concerned Authorised Persons.
The company also clarified that, apart from the penalty amount, the matter is not expected to have any material impact on its financial position, business operations, or other activities.
