
Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) has reported its power market performance for Q1FY27 and June 2026 as per the exchange filings. The exchange achieved a traded volume of 37,534 MU in Q1FY27, marking a 15.9% year-on-year increase. In June 2026, the traded volume reached 12,210 MU, reflecting a 12.5% increase compared to the previous year.
IEX Power Market Performance in Q1FY27
During Q1FY27, IEX recorded a traded volume of 37.5 BU, representing a 15.9% growth compared to the same period last year. The Real-Time Market (RTM) contributed 16.0 BU, showing a 23.5% increase. The Green Market saw a growth of 6.3% year-on-year.
The Market Clearing Price in the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) was ₹5.1/unit, a 15.7% increase from Q1FY26. The RTM price was ₹4.5/unit, up 13.8% from the previous year. Despite a decline in Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) volumes by 81.4%, 9.77 lakh RECs were traded.
IEX Power Market Performance in June 2026
In June 2026, IEX achieved a monthly traded volume of 12.2 BU, a 12.5% year-on-year increase. The RTM volume reached 5.4 BU, up 25.7% compared to June 2025. The DAM price increased to ₹5.2/unit, a 32.4% rise from the previous year, while the RTM price was ₹4.4/unit, a 17% increase.
India's energy consumption in June 2026 was 166.5 BUs, reflecting an 11.6% year-on-year growth. The country experienced its driest June in over a decade, with monsoon rainfall 40% below the long-period average.
The Day-Ahead Market, including HPDAM, achieved a volume of 13,344 MU in Q1FY27, a 7.6% increase from Q1FY26. However, June 2026 saw a decline of 6.6% in DAM volume compared to the previous year. The Term-Ahead Market (TAM) traded 5,344 MU in Q1FY27, a 22.9% increase year-on-year.

The Green Market, comprising the Green Day-Ahead and Green Term-Ahead Market segments, achieved a volume of 2,827 MU in Q1FY27, a 6.3% increase from the previous year. In June 2026, the segment recorded a marginal decline of 1.2% year-on-year.
The REC Market saw a decline in traded volumes by 92.3% in June 2026, with 2.49 lakh RECs traded. The next REC trading sessions are scheduled for July 8, 2026, and July 29, 2026.
