Godrej Properties Ltd has won the bid for a land parcel of about 5 acres located off the Eastern Metropolitan (EM) Bypass in Kolkata. The plot was allotted through an e-auction conducted by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO).
As per the filing, the company plans to develop a residential project on the site. Based on current estimates, the project is expected to have a revenue potential of around ₹1,650 crore.
The EM Bypass is one of Kolkata’s key urban corridors and has seen steady residential development over the years. The stretch connects several parts of the city, including Salt Lake, New Town, Park Circus, Gariahat and Garia.
These neighbourhoods have a mix of housing, offices, educational institutions and healthcare facilities. The area has gradually developed into an important residential zone due to its access to different parts of the city.
The EM Bypass corridor is supported by several flyovers and arterial roads that allow movement between eastern and southern Kolkata. These routes also connect with other major road networks across the city.
Connectivity is expected to improve further with the construction of the Garia Airport metro line. Once operational, the line will link the southern suburbs to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The area already has road connectivity to the airport through existing routes.
The company intends to build a residential development on the acquired parcel. Details such as the number of units or project configuration have not been disclosed.

The acquisition of the 5-acre parcel off EM Bypass provides the company with another project site in Kolkata. With its location along a major corridor and access to key neighbourhoods, the proposed development is estimated to generate revenue of about ₹1,650 crore based on current assumptions.
