
The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd has entered into an agreement to sell its very large gas carrier Jag Vishnu to an unaffiliated third party. The agreement was signed on December 26, 2025, according to an exchange filing.
Jag Vishnu was built in 2002 and has a cargo capacity of about 77,922 cubic metres. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered to the buyer in the 4th quarter of FY26. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
The company said the delivery of the vessel will take place in Q4 FY26, placing the completion of the sale in the next financial year. The transaction forms part of a set of fleet-related actions planned for the same period.
GE Shipping did not identify the buyer, stating only that the counterparty is not affiliated with the company.
Including Jag Vishnu, GE Shipping’s owned fleet will comprise 39 vessels. This includes 25 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers, with a total capacity of around 3.17 million deadweight tonnes.
The tanker fleet consists of 5 crude tankers, 16 product tankers and four LPG carriers. The dry bulk fleet includes 2 Capesize vessels, 10 Kamsarmax vessels and 2 Supramax vessels.
In addition to the sale of Jag Vishnu, the company has contracted to buy 1 second-hand very large gas carrier and 1 second-hand Ultramax dry bulk carrier. It has also agreed to sell a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier named Jag Aarati.
These purchase and sale transactions are also expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of FY26, alongside the delivery of Jag Vishnu.
As of December 29, 2025, 9:54 am, Great Eastern Shipping Company (GE Shipping) share price was trading at ₹1,111.00, a 1.30% increase from the previous closing price.

The sale of Jag Vishnu is part of a set of fleet changes planned by GE Shipping for FY26. With multiple acquisitions and disposals scheduled in the same quarter, the company is set to adjust its vessel mix while maintaining an overall fleet size of 39 ships.
