The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has announced that it has contracted to sell its 2011-built Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier, Jag Aarati, to an unaffiliated third party. The vessel, with a carrying capacity of about 80,324 deadweight tonnes (dwt), was contracted for sale on December 18, 2025. As per the agreement, the delivery of the ship to the new buyer is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of FY26.

Impact on Fleet Composition

Following the sale of Jag Aarati, G E Shipping continues to maintain a diversified and balanced fleet across tanker and dry bulk segments. Including this vessel, the company’s currently owned fleet comprises 40 ships, with a total capacity of approximately 3.32 million dwt. The fleet includes 26 tankers and 14 dry bulk carriers, allowing the company to cater to a wide range of cargo and trade requirements.

Details of the Existing Fleet

The tanker fleet consists of 6 crude oil tankers, 16 product tankers and 4 LPG carriers. On the dry bulk side, the company operates 14 vessels, including 2 Capesize, 10 Kamsarmax and 2 Supramax carriers. This diversified mix helps G E Shipping manage market volatility while serving different segments of global maritime trade.

Other Fleet Transactions

In addition to the sale of Jag Aarati, G E Shipping has also contracted to sell one Suezmax crude tanker, with the transaction expected to be completed in the third quarter of FY26. At the same time, the company is strengthening its dry bulk presence by contracting to buy one secondhand Ultramax dry bulk carrier, which is expected to be delivered in Q4 FY26.

On December 18, 2025, G E Shipping share price opened at ₹1110.00, touching the day’s low at ₹1107.60, as of 2:20 PM on the NSE.
