Exide Industries has entered into a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with Germany-based ExCom Energy Solutions for the European Economic Area, as per the exchange filing.
The partnership will cover industrial batteries and energy storage systems, with products marketed and sold under the ExCom brand.
ExCom To Lead Customer Operations
ExCom will act as the commercial and technical interface for customers across the EEA. Its responsibilities will include customer development, distribution, technical project support, and after-sales coordination.
Exide will bring its manufacturing capabilities and industrial battery technology portfolio to the partnership, while ExCom will provide its local market presence and application engineering expertise.
Traction Batteries Are the Initial Focus
The companies will initially work on traction and motive-power batteries used in material-handling equipment, logistics, and other industrial mobility applications.
Stationary battery systems for industrial, infrastructure, and energy storage applications are also part of the agreement.
Partnership Covers More Than Battery Supply
The planned offering extends to charging technologies, system integration, application engineering, and lifecycle services.
Products and solutions will be adapted to the technical and operational needs of customers across European markets.
Exide Targets Growth in EEA
Exide Industries, MD and CEO Avik Roy said the EEA is strategically important for the company's industrial energy storage business.
He expects the combination of ExCom's local capabilities and Exide's manufacturing scale to support growth in the region.
Advanced Chemistry Could Follow
The two companies expect to explore advanced chemistry solutions as the partnership develops.
ExCom Managing Director Holger Aschke said they intend to build a European traction-battery platform while exploring next-generation industrial energy storage opportunities.
