Dr Reddy’s entered into the agreement with Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Private Limited on September 18, 2026. Under the deal, Dr Reddy’s will handle the promotion, distribution and marketing of QDENGA in the private market for both children and adults in India.

Takeda will continue to handle the public market in India. It will also be responsible for manufacturing and importing the vaccine.

Dr Reddy’s Gets Private Market Rights

Dr Reddy’s will have exclusive rights to distribute and market QDENGA in India's private market. The agreement covers vaccination for both pediatric and adult patients.

There is no upfront payment or milestone payment under the agreement. The companies have not disclosed the other commercial terms.

The deal is not an acquisition. Takeda is also not a related party of Dr Reddy’s, and the filing states that the promoter group and group companies have no interest in Takeda.

QDENGA Expected to Launch in 2027

QDENGA received marketing approval from India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in July 2026 for people aged 4 to 60 years. It is the first dengue vaccine approved by CDSCO in India.

QDENGA is designed to protect against all four dengue virus serotypes. It is given in two doses, with the second dose administered three months after the first.

Takeda to Continue Public Market Role

The agreement only covers India's private market. Takeda will retain its rights in the public market and will continue to own QDENGA's legal and brand rights in India.

Dr Reddy’s will work with Takeda on disease awareness, engagement with healthcare professionals, promotion and distribution of the vaccine in the private market.

Takeda's vaccine has been approved in 43 countries since 2022, and more than 32 million doses have been distributed globally through public and private programmes, according to the companies.
