The market reacted sharply to recent developments, leading to a sell-off in these stocks.
Cochin Shipyard led the decline, with its stock price falling 7.24% to ₹1,479. The company's fourth-quarter earnings report revealed a consolidated net profit drop of 31.7%, amounting to ₹175 crore for the January-March period, compared to ₹256 crore in the same quarter last year.
Revenue from operations also fell by 15.6% to ₹1,484 crore, contributing to the stock's downward movement.
Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) stock slipped 4.44% to ₹4,191.5. The company announced expected delays in the delivery of Tejas Mk1A fighter aircraft to the Indian Air Force, citing issues with engine supplies and ongoing testing.
HAL has so far received 6 engines from GE Aerospace and anticipates more supplies within the current financial year.
Bharat Dynamics saw a decline of 3.81%, with its stock price reaching ₹1,274.9. Other defence stocks were also affected, with Mazagon Dock dropping 3.70% to ₹2,389.9 and Paras Defence falling 3.44% to ₹727.45. Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) was relatively less impacted, trading 1.81% lower at ₹416.
