CG Power is expanding its semiconductor business into power electronics through a new investment by its wholly owned subsidiary, Axiro Semiconductor. Axiro has joined Silicon Valley-based ThinSiC as the lead investor in its latest funding round and signed a long-term commercial partnership with the company.

The announcement was made on October 29. The companies will work together to develop and commercialise silicon carbide (SiC) power devices.

Why Silicon Carbide Matters

Silicon carbide is being explored as an alternative to conventional silicon in high-voltage power electronics. Its potential applications include railway traction systems, industrial drives and power grid infrastructure.

ThinSiC is developing lower-cost SiC devices, with the aim of addressing the cost and scalability challenges that have limited wider adoption. The companies have not disclosed the size of Axiro’s investment or the financial terms of their partnership.

A New Area for Axiro

Axiro has so far focused on radio frequency (RF), millimetre-wave (mmWave) technology and advanced connectivity chip design. The ThinSiC investment extends its work into power semiconductors.

CG Power’s existing presence in power transmission and industrial infrastructure could also give Axiro a route to bring ThinSiC’s technology to customers in India and other markets.

ThinSiC founder and CEO T.S. Ravi said Axiro’s semiconductor expertise and access to the wider CG Power group could help speed up commercialisation of its devices.

CG Power Share Price Performance

As of October 29, 2026, at 3:11 PM, CG Power share price was trading at ₹830.35 per share, reflecting a 0.23% decline from previous closing price.

Conclusion

The ThinSiC partnership gives Axiro a foothold in silicon carbide power devices, beyond its existing connectivity focus. The next step will be turning the technology into commercially available products, though no launch timeline has been announced.
