
Centum Electronics Limited has secured a defence electronics contract from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the development of Active Electronically Scanned Array radar systems. The order relates to the Utility Helicopter–Maritime platform and marks a significant step in Centum’s advanced radar capabilities.
The current award covers Phase-1 of the programme, involving the design and development of AESA radar systems to be delivered over the next 2 financial years. The purchase order value stands at ₹66 crore, with a gross contract value of ₹78 crore including GST.
The radar system is designed to detect, classify and track multiple maritime targets, strengthening surveillance and operational capabilities of the maritime helicopter platform.
Upon successful execution of Phase-1, the programme is expected to transition into Phase-2, which envisages serial production and supply of AESA radar systems over a 5-year period. The estimated Phase-2 value is ₹500 crore, with a gross value of approximately ₹590 crore including GST.
This multi-phase structure positions Centum to scale from system design to sustained manufacturing in mission-critical defence electronics.
