Biocon Share Price Surges; Secures 10-Year Pertuzumab Supply Contract in Brazil

Biocon has signed a partnership agreement with Bahiafarma and Bionovis for Pertuzumab in Brazil, as per the exchange filing. The three-party consortium has received the full allocation under Brazil's 10-year Productive Development Partnership (PDP) programme for the cancer therapy.
The arrangement gives the consortium access to Brazil's public healthcare market, where around 70% of the country's Pertuzumab demand comes from. For Biocon, the agreement will bring milestone payments as well as a share of revenue generated through the PDP opportunity.
Biocon Gets 100% PDP Allocation
Pertuzumab is a monoclonal antibody used to treat HER2-positive breast cancer. The drug is currently not manufactured locally in Brazil and is a significant expense for the country's Unified Health System (SUS).
Under the agreement, production will gradually be localised in Brazil over the mid to long term. This gives the partnership a local manufacturing component alongside its access to the country's public healthcare system.
Management Highlights Local Manufacturing
Biocon CEO and Managing Director Shreehas Tambe said the agreement will help expand access to Pertuzumab for patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. He also pointed to the combination of Biocon's manufacturing capabilities with the local expertise of Bahiafarma and Bionovis.
Bahiafarma CEO Ceuci Nunes said the partnership can help Brazil build its ability to produce complex medicines for SUS. Bionovis CEO Odnir Finotti highlighted access to biological medicines, specialised employment and greater productive autonomy.
Agreement Runs For 10 Years
Biocon will receive milestone payments and a share of revenues from the Brazil PDP opportunity throughout the 10-year period. The company has not disclosed the financial value of the agreement in the release.
The partnership therefore gives Biocon a long-term route into Brazil's public oncology market, while the planned localisation is expected to develop over time.
Biocon Share Price Performance
As of 08 September 2026, at 11:25 AM, Biocon Ltd share price is trading at ₹399.05 per share, reflecting a surge of 1.95% from the previous trading session.
Conclusion
Biocon's agreement covers Pertuzumab supply under Brazil's 10-year PDP programme, with the consortium receiving 100% allocation. The deal also includes phased localisation of production in Brazil and a revenue-sharing arrangement for Biocon.
